Holy mother of vegetables!
We made these AMAZING raw vegan cheezy kale chips at Rawlicious yesterday, and they are 100% drool-worthy. Perhaps a little scary and gross-looking to those who have never had them, but they’re delish and completely guilt-free!  I may be the first person to figure out a way to get fat from eating kale, but it’s a challenge I think I could rise to ;). There are dozens of recipes for this type of thing on the internet, so while I can’t share ours, I encourage you to do a quick search for yourself and see what you find! Yum!

Question:  How to you start the day off on a high note?

Answer:  Head down to the local farmers’ market for a guilt-free shopping spree!

Farmers’ markets are a great place to find fresh, local produce (that is often also organic) and save some money!  I left the market with the world’s largest batch of basil for $3.00 (pesto, anyone?!), a massive bunch of kale, sweet organic carrots, and some bell peppers.

If you have a farmers’ market in your area, I really suggest checking it out.  Actually being able to talk to the people producing your food is a great way to connect with your community and learn just what has gone into making the stuff you feed yourself!  Some markets might even have a few vendors selling home-baked goods, so it’s a great opportunity to find vegan baking or suggest that they add a few vegan treats to their menu!

In short, if there’s a market close to where you live, drop in and see what it’s like!  I’m off now to freeze some more of the amazing(!) pesto that the world’s largest bunch of basil was transformed into, and then it’s off to bed.  The bf and I are going camping tomorrow, so watch out for a future post on vegan-friendly camp food!

All the best, and good eating, Tumblrs! :)
